Seventies Wallpaper

wallpaper

The electrician/handyman came round this afternoon from the local appliance showroom to install my new oven. This is what he found at the back of the cavity when he took the old broken oven out – it’s hard to imagine a more typically nineteen-seventies pattern! The kitchen must have looked absolutely hideous when the walls were covered with this design! It’s a bit of a blurry picture, but I just had to capture the full horror for posterity.

Yuk. I know the problem with appliances though. In short order we have had the dishwasher die and the oven blow its 4th fan element So much for German engineering (it was a Bosch). Apparently it is common to most fan ovens and when you change the element you can see why. Poor design with sharp bends. Our washing machine is bound to be next, it is near 20 years old!

… as for appliances, when we bought house last year estate agent told us the boiler is relatively new, replace a couple of years ago. WRONG, had it serviced yesterday and engineer said its at least 10 yrs old as he serviced it for previous people !!!, luckily he said its a great little boiler and the heating system is brilliant.

So moral of story, NEVER trust a word uttered from the mouth of an estate agent.
