Originally, this site was your common or garden ramblings of a part-time blogger with not much to say. On December 23, 2009 all that changed, when I was diagnosed with inoperable oesophageal cancer. There was suddenly an awful lot going on in my life, and I was answering questions from friends and family in emails and phone calls. I thought if I could put the basic facts into one place, and then point people at them, then I could focus my energies on more, and more interesting things to do and talk about.

Feel better by blogging

Then a strange thing started happening. I noticed that I wasn’t prepared to whinge in public about what was happening to me. When I wrote about a development in my symptoms, or some new treatment, I found myself looking for a positive angle from which to write. And that effort to be positive was paying off in real life too. I became much more aware of how things were improving when they were. I could see an upside to every downside. And I became happier and calmer as a result.

If you want to help, even from a distance, then please read and comment on my posts. The more people who read, the more reason I have to update the blog, The more often I write positively about my cancer, the better I’ll feel. In a very real sense, your reading my blog is helping me.
