Chris made such a huge effort to talk to both the consultants yesterday evening, but it seems to have taken a lot out of him. He had a very restless night which culminated in him falling out of bed and having another fit. This morning his vision and his hearing are both much worse. His coordination has also gone, so I had to feed him his breakfast as he can’t hold a spoon. I’ve spoken to the doctor who is going to increase his dose of midazolam which will protect against seizures.

Dear Gillian,
We were so pleased to hear that Chris was able to discuss his treatment options yesterday afternoon, so are obviously deeply saddened to hear about the toll it has taken on him. We take comfort from knowing he is receiving excellent care, not least from yourself. As ever, we’re just on the end of the phone if we can help, especially if we can give you a bit of respite.
As ever, we think of you both constantly.

Gillian, I am reading your blog daily and you and Chris are constantly in my thoughts.
I feel Chris and I started the cancer journey together since our diagnoses were very close in time and I am so sorry that his options are now so limited. Please feel supported by all those who are reading your reports and thinking of you.
Hi Chris,
I was just thinking about all our coffee discussions over the past 10 years – I reckon there must have been over 2000 of them. For the more recent ones I was even drinking half-decent coffee thanks to your tips on brewing! They were often fascinating, fanciful, amusing, educational, sometimes challenging, and I wanted to thank you for all that – work wouldn’t have been half as much fun without those interludes.

Hi Chris & Gillian, thank you for the consideration you have shown to your friends in keeping this blog. I just hope and pray that Chris is not in too much pain and distress from now on. I would also like to tell Chris that his friendship, kindness and wisdom have had a lasting effect on my life and I’m sure on many others.
